This finely-crafted documentary faithfully tells the story of Charles Piazzi Smyth, who served as Scotland’s Royal Astronomer for 42 years. We follow a group of astrophysics students and professors as they recreate the astronomer’s groundbreaking experiments on the slopes of Mt. Teide in the Canary Islands, where Piazzi Smyth pioneered the modern practice of placing telescopes at high altitudes to enjoy the best observing conditions. Along the way, we unveil insightful interviews with notable astronomers, including Brian May, the lead guitarist for the rock group Queen.
